December 2009We're BackYes, it has been a very long time since we have sent you an update. Since that time a lot has happened, and a lot will be happening in the future. Probably the single biggest event that has happened is our change in churches. The process of leaving a church is always a painful one, or at least it was for us. When you unite with a church, you are not merely attending that church, but you are uniting with it. You become friends with the people, and you invest in the church. The church becomes an extension of your family. When the Lord leads you to move to another church, many of those ties are broken. Then there is the question of finding a new church. We all know we are living in the end times. As we began to look for a new church, we realized just how few truly good churches are out there. However, God is good! When we visited the church we would ultimately join, we were very impressed. As we visited various churches, we had assembled a checklist of specific things we were looking for in a church. It was as if though someone had given the pastor that list, and he used it for his sermon outline! When we changed churches, we essentially put everything at Teens-4-Christ on hold. At that point we also asked our supporting churches to discontinue their support. We are certainly thankful for the financial suport they offered us. Since joining this church, the Lord has opened many new doors for us to minister. Our Pastor has started a new converts class and has asked Kellie and I to lead that up. The class is based on our book, First Steps, Walking as a New Believer. (see below) That class is going very well. Within just a few weeks, the Lord has also opened up an opportunity for me to preach on a regular basis. The most important thing is that the Lord has allowed Kellie and I to be a part in helping one family get back in church, one person get saved, and the Lord is working in another family right now. Of course, it is exciting to see the burden our Pastor has for teens. His burden extends to Teens-4-Christ, and he seems anxious to get Teens-4-Christ where it should be. Pastor and I have briefly discussed several possibilites already. First StepsMost people will agree that as Fundamental Baptists we consistently fail in the area of discipleship. We love to see people saved and baptized, but how many of those who are saved and baptized actually know what they believe? We have now completed “First Steps, Walking as a New Believer.” This is an interactive discipleship guide for the new believer. The basic idea behind this guide is to offer the new or ungrounded believer a guide they can use to learn some basic Bible principles. The guide presents the student with a Bible verse or verses about a particular topic and then asks questions about those verses. The questions are designed to lead the new believer into learning the foundational doctrines and the Biblical reasons why these doctrines are true. This guide would be an excellent framework for a new believer class or a one-on-one discipleship program. For more information, please click here. Prayer RequestsWe would like to ask you to please pray for the direction of Teens-4-Christ. As we continue, we are excited about the changes the Lord is making in Teens-4-Christ. Please pray with us that we make the right decisions. Of course, please pray for the family. We would also like to ask you to pray for a young lady we know. The Lord has been working in her heart, but she is making some bad decisions. She needs to start making good decisions and get in a good church where she will be encouraged to do right and be real instead of being encouraged to compromise and become a hypocrite. The Lord knows her name. SurveyOne of the projects we are currently working on is an internet safety and security seminar. To help with that seminar, we would like to ask you to take a short survey. You can quickly take the survey by clicking here. We are not looking for any personal information. The data will be completely anonymous and will not be distributed with anyone. FeedbackWe’re looking for ideas. What do you think should be included in Teens-4-Christ? What are your ideas? What should we change? What should we add, and what should we take away? Send us your feedback by clicking here.
